    • another apparently simple question:

do i need a dryer here? i am buying the washer tomorrow; and depending on whom i speak with; some say yes and others say absolutely not necessary.

a 3rd opinion will help me decide. thanks!

    • okie, questions for seasoned melbournites here,

      1. is it advisable for vege to be frozen? we bought cauliflower and other vege and had trouble consuming them! they are just too big! in the fridge, they don't seems to last as long as after 2/3 days, you can tell the freshness gone. how to manage this well?

      2. where are the salvo stores that sell used furniture? the ones i been to are small stores and i don't see any furniture on sale. maybe i have been to the wrong stores. (i noticed furniture prices here are really expensive).

      3. are weekend fresh farm markets worth visiting? can recommend where? i drove past some but did not take note of its locations.

      4. where to get the best prices for fishes and seafood? it's just out of this world in coles and safeways. we drove to dandenong market last week and the price are half on those we saw in vermont/forest hill but i don't think i want to drive to dandenong ever so often.

i am currently on a short term lease in boxhill south and will permanently move to blackburn south mid-dec. hence any tips on value buys around those area will be appreciated as i will need to stock up for my new crib.

      thanks!

lionnoisy, i don't mean to get in the ring with you on this, but even with your highlights in red, you misread the intent on the narrative.

      it is really quite funny.

but it is a good thing if liverpool can go all the way. they need all the help they can get given that they are stuttering themselves.

    • any particular model in mind? unfortunately i nvr use altec lansing b4 and nvr had good impressions on them.

i went to a harvey norman in eastern melbourne and i see a lot of crap ipod speakers from philips, teac and other brands. most are under $200 but i am not keen on those. if you have actual good experience on an altec on ipod, i dun mind having an open mind on altec speakers.

      thanks!

    • can anyone recommend?

i just got hold of the new ipod touch and ipod nano not long ago and wanted to have a decent speakers to go with it. my jbl creature's tweeter died and i am speakerless for my ipods.

i went to bose at junction 8 prior to me leaving the country and i think the speaker is over-rated and expensive.

any help is appreciated. i dun mind spending up to $400 for the speakers. thanks!

i think it should. it lends credance to the discussion.

however, if one chooses to rant around the circle, it is his right too. i have nothing against it. at least i know now and can better waste my time elsewhere.

      thanks for clarifying.

i don't know why are you pursuing this. it is a pointless discussion; some will, some won't. so what?

unless there is an objective in this discussion that you are trying to lead us to, i will tend to agree with atobe questioning your purpose, jabs aside.

reddust, what kind of accommodation are you looking for?

hehe...funnycar, my requirements are quite diffirent from yours. i came with my entire family and a container of stuff on its way. so, i am looking for a house/townhouse which i hope to stay for a year before deciding if it is a good time to buy in '09.

my priorities are proximity to school and my workplace, though i work from home. my office is in forest hill. so, i am looking for a place in an eastern suburb.

best wishes to your find. may you have better luck than me!

you are well conditioned, that's all i can say.

i think you should avoid passing judgement summarily.

their mindset are troubled. they are not thinking in a rationale nor logical manner.

often people are `pushed to the extreme' when they chose the option to end it all. and that `extreme' is relative. some's threshold are lower. it could be the spur of the moment or something triggers it. there is no logical explanation to this all.

you do not go thru' what they went thru', so you should refrain from making such insensitive comment.

    • sometimes openings are not advertised. if you fancy certain employers and you think you have a skillset that can contribute positively to the prospective employer, you should just  write in rather than be reactive and look at ads.

however, you need to be specific on what your skillsets are. if there is a job fit, you will most certainly be ahead in the queue.

My hubby bought me a Melway for Christmas in 2002 (infact before we were married) and I only just recently bought a new one as mine was to outdated and many new streets are not on it.

hehe....i will get a gps when i collect my car this friday.

in the last 2 days, i had too many 3 pt turns for missing a slip road here, a junction there while house-hunting. it is not very productive.

frustrating too. i also need to stop half way to calibrate my position. not much fun.
