    • seriously can't remember but then does not feel good....especially when the urge suddenly comes...

"LOL. I was trying to stay away from sex, just because I wanted to be faithful to this guy I'm dating but then I fell from it today with a visit from the ex." --> you mean you do not have sex with this guy you are dating now???

    • true. but SAF is always prudent on safety. That explains the slow speed.

SAF driving and riding courses are not easy to pass. They are actually very much more stringent than the commercial driving tests. Those who went through any driving or riding course will agree with me.

Cannot run right is not for everywhere. It is more for no right turns into and out of camps, and especially for junctions without traffic light controls. Whereas if it is a traffic-light controlled junction, SAF vehicles can turn right.

    • i think you need to decide if you are suited to commandship. If not, talk to your PC and MO about your decision. Tell them that you are too stressed to carry on commandship training and request for OOC.

Frankly, I think it's better you OOC now rather than having this half-past six attitude going through the course and end of the day if you are to lead your men, you cannot handle it. It harms not only you but the few lives under you.

So I think you better take a very serious view on this....

      2 cents...

    • yes. JCC is nicorporated as part of the infantry OCC. Are you a regular? if not, are you going into Pro-term? if you are just entering into OCS, you will not know if you will be an infantry officer. The basic training is infantry just like in bmt but end of service term you may be assigned to support arms. Support arms go does jungle training too but not JCC.

    • think end of the day, it's still better for your friend to talk to his S1/Manpower with regards to his ROA.

      All the best to him!

    • Air-force, navy and army and 3 different Services. Support arms in army means artillery, signals, logistics, engineers etc in support of moving troops. They are also combat appointments just in their own arms. They are eligible for advancement courses e.g. CTC, BTC, SCSC, same as moving vocations i.e. commandos, guards, infantry.

CTC is to prepare for OC appt and BTC is to prepare for Bn S3 appt. Anything higher is to go through the SCSC (Singapore Command and Staff College). This course is also open to Singapore Police Force officers.

Youe mentioned earlier that "He did his OC tour in a support arm (one of those navy blue berets arm). Don't tell me officers from support arm cannot do BTC ah?"

I guessed he cleared his OC tour as OC of FDS (Field Defence Squardron) meaning to provide the land defence of the naval camps. My friend was a PC there. For this issue, I really suggest he check with his S1 regarding his ROA (Route of advancement).

      Cheers.

    • has your friend cleared CTC/AIOC? If so then his OC tour needs to be as in combat OC tour before he is allowed to go BTC.

As what Herzog_Zwei said, better ask your friend to check with the unit's S1/G1. They can advise better.

    • vitamin P, I think you should actually have a conversation and find out why is it that they think that it is better to be friends with you?

There is always this saying that some people are better off as friends than in a r/s. You need to find out the underlying reason why. I think 1 reason simply is because you may have been a little bit too possessive in the r/s which of course normally as friends, you do not show this (pardon me but this is just a little guess on my part).

Talk to each other openly, with an open mind to accept and I believe you will find out why end of the day.

Good luck and all the best!

    • passing or not is not the only gauge for commandship. It is more of how you command & control the group and get things done....

    • i read in the papers regarding undergrad programmes just before CNY that employers may not want to hire candidates who obtained their degrees from programmes that are shorter or those that are of "express" programmes because of the lack of amount of knowledge and skills in the programme being taught to the student.

like what Wai Leng mentioned, can you cope with the syllabus? In the end you may end up more time wasted in (touch wood) re-sitting for exams just like your "o" levels.

My brother started his poly life after NS because he was an ITE student. He also went thru 5 years to "o" but did not do well and in the end he took the longer route. He attended poly class when he was 22/23.

Instead of being slow in his studies now, he is taking a more positive attitude towards life and school because he learnt the hard way. Studying in the poly after NS is normal for guys and these people are actually top of the few in terms of grades because they are matured and they understand things better. With good grades in your diploma, there is also a better chance of getting into a better Uni, especially local Uni.

Think about what you really want. A fast-track studies to no confidence in whether the degree is useful and a risk of repeating OR a steady course of studies that will take a longer time but at least you know at the end, you have a chance of pursuing a better course?

    • it's interesting to know that there are such people in the world despite they themselves being in the "NUS" (National university of Society) for so long.

They fail to reckon that the world is round and anything can happen. Cannot understnad their mindset on insisting to belittle someone to make himself/herself look magnificent.

Really irritated with such people. I condemn these people who starts office politics and there was once i wrote in my blog about a very nasty person being very ride over emails...hmph.....

Johnny, just concentrate on work and if your other colleagues understand that you are not comfortable with all the sneering, they'll stop....

    • Hi FailureOfTheNation, u activated before CNY to go Maju camp?? lol....

anyway, it depends on the unit commanders and guidance from HHQ. Normally is to take attendance and ensure that all servicemen on standby react and report on time when recalled. Another point is your FBO. Please get the sufficient items in your packs because you can be charged for not bringing the required items. Check with your unit on the items to bring. In NS.SG forum, there are also threads on mobilisation and ICT discussions. Maybe you will like to take a look at them?

Another mob is called tech mob whereby there is deployment i.e. everyone reports, draw weapons and all logistics requirements and move out to set up conc area. This will take the whole of Sat (normally) till sunday morning. Hope that the recall does not include a tech mob.

Some people for their whole life they never get mobilised but some people may get it a few times. So keep your fingers crossed ya???
